Huge catalogue, Trade Assurance, habit. More trading companies posing as factories. Good for a first price and MOQ range. Weak as the only filter.
Gold Supplier is a paid status. It is not a line visit.
Made-in-China
Often stronger on industrial categories and exporters who want a business talk, not retail chat. Still has middlemen. Still needs a plant address.
Use it as a second search, not as “a more serious Alibaba, therefore proven”.
How to work both
- Same brief on both platforms, plus 1688 where it fits.
- Shortlist 3–5, regardless of the site logo.
- Check: China suppliers.
- Visit or audit: factories in China.
- Landed cost before deposit.
If an account exists on only one platform, that is not a red flag. If they cannot locate a plant, it is.
